The following sale terms and conditions apply for the 2023 ANNUAL ABBA PERFORMANCE BULL TEST SALE:

PAYMENT: Terms of the sale are wire transfer, cash, credit card, or cashier’s check, due upon receipt and before animals leave Texana Feeders. Credit card payments will be charged a 6% processing fee. Bulls will not be loaded without a release form. Unpaid accounts will be billed at 18% APR beginning thirty (30) days following sale. Upon receipt of payment, the seller will transfer the registration paper if applicable to the buyer as soon as possible. If full payment is not received within thirty (30) days, then upon written or electronic notice to buyer, the breeder shall retain ownership of animal with full property rights, including the ability to sell the animal to another buyer.

FEEDING TERMS: Cattle will be provided free care until October 28th, 2023, after which feed is billed at $10/head/day in the pasture. These charges are not designed for the seller to make money, just to cover the costs. Any veterinary expense will be the owner’s obligation. All accounts will be billed monthly. Feed charges must be paid in full when the cattle are picked up.

LIABILITY: Ownership of the animal transfers at the time of sale and the buyer bears the risk of injury, disease, or death, which may occur.

HEALTH: Animals have been provided the utmost care, nutrition, and vaccinations under the guidance of the seller’s veterinarian. Animals are assumed sound and healthy at sale time.

PICKUP: Bulls will be available for pick up at Texana Feeders on the following schedule:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 8am – 2pm
Satuday: 8am – 10am
No pickups available on Sundays.

DNA Parent Verification: All Bulls have been sampled with Allflex Tissue Sampling Units submitted to Neogen labs. Tissue samples were processed via Neogen’s GGP 100K array. This tests provides a 100K genotype and a parent verification profile to enable your new bull’s progeny to be DNA parent verified to their sire, as well as to provide genomic data to inform the American Brahman Breeder’s Association’s National Cattle Evaluation. When available, bulls have been matched to their sire and dam’s existing DNA profiles to provide a pedigree that is confirmed to be accurate.

Ranking & Sale Order: Bulls were evaluated for performance in six key areas. 1: Average Daily Gain on Test. This value was calculated from the Bull’s exit weight, subtracting the bull’s entry weight and dividing by 100 (the number of days on feed). 2: Scrotal Circumference. This measure was taken by a licensed veterinarian during the performance of a Breeding Soundness Exam. 3: Birth Weight EPD. Bulls were ranked according to their birth weight EPD (as calculated in the August 2023 National Cattle Evaluation), with lower EPD values representing more desirable sires. 4: IMF (Intramuscular Fat, or Marbling). Bulls were evaluated upon entry (in accordance with Ultrasound Guidelines Council parameters based upon age) for intramuscular fat. Higher values represented more desirable bulls. 5: REA/cwt (RibEye Area per 100 pounds of body weight). Bulls were ranked for muscling upon entry (in accordance with Ultrasound Guidelines Council parameters based upon age) for muscling. This measure was calculated by dividing the bull’s ribeye area measurement upon entry by the bull’s body weight upon entry, then multiplying by 100. 6: Phenotypic Rank. Bulls were evaluated on a 1-5 scale by four judges highly familiar with the physical evaluation of Brahman cattle for four key areas: Feet/Structure, Body Capacity, Docility, Breed Character. The scores for these areas were averaged, and then ranked highest to lowest based upon the average score.
